Renewable Energy Management: Expert oversight of wind, solar, and BESS assets, focusing on advanced control system monitoring, technical risk assessment, and fleet charging integration

At Tersus Engineering, we leverage our deep expertise in technical management and diagnostic systems to support the transition to sustainable power. We provide comprehensive engineering oversight for onsite energy assets, focusing on the sophisticated control systems that ensure operational uptime and efficiency.

  • Wind Turbine Control & Monitoring:
    • Support Technical management of turbine control units (TCU) to optimize mechanical performance and safety.
    • Utilising manufacturer-provided diagnostic data and asset health reports to oversee the operational status of renewable systems. We act as your technical representative to ensure that wind and solar assets are meeting performance KPIs and that maintenance alerts are addressed promptly.
    • Condition-based monitoring to track vibration, temperature, and component wear, preventing costly mechanical downtime.
  • Solar PV & Energy Storage (BESS) Management:
    • Engineering management of 'behind-the-meter' solar arrays and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
    • Oversight of energy management software to balance onsite generation with high-demand vehicle charging duty cycles.
    • Performance analytics and fault diagnosis to maximize energy yield and storage battery longevity.
  • Fleet Charging Infrastructure Oversight:
    • Technical project management for the installation and operation of BEV city bus and commercial vehicle charging systems.
    • Oversight of smart-charging control logic to manage power distribution across multi-bay depot environments.

Project Experience: Renewable Infrastructure Oversight

Project Title: Technical Management of a Multi-Asset Energy Hub
Focus: Integration of Solar, Wind, and Battery Storage for Fleet Operations

The Challenge
A commercial operator required a sustainable energy solution to support their transition to electric vehicles. They needed a managed approach to integrate onsite generation and storage without disrupting existing operations or exceeding site capacity.

Our Management Role
We acted as the Technical Project Manager and Owner's Representative, overseeing the entire lifecycle of the installation:

  • Requirement Specification: Identified the specific energy demands of the vehicle fleet to ensure the solar arrays and wind turbine control settings were optimized for peak charging times.
  • Contractor & Vendor Coordination: Managed the selection and onsite activities of specialist renewable installers, ensuring all works met the technical brief and stayed on schedule.
  • Wind & Solar Monitoring Oversight: Established a framework for reviewing performance data from the turbine control systems and solar inverters to ensure the assets were meeting projected energy yields.
  • Storage (BESS) Logic Management: Supervised the implementation of the Battery Energy Storage System, ensuring the control logic was correctly configured to prioritize vehicle charging during high-demand periods.
  • Operational Risk & Safety: Conducted comprehensive engineering risk assessments across the site, ensuring that the new energy infrastructure was integrated safely within the commercial environment.

The Result
The project was delivered with a clear audit trail and technical oversight. By managing the performance data and contractor outputs, we ensured the client received a reliable, "behind-the-meter" energy system that provides a consistent power supply for their zero-emission fleet
